Continuing to destroy habitat of endangered, or at risk species will ensure that future generations won't have access to truly natural places. Developed, groomed, or manicured green spaces aren't nature. There is so much potential in eco tourism, but all the current government cares about is rich developers getting richer. Take a look at places like the Grotto near Tobermory. It's so crowded with people who are starved for beatiful, natural places. The more you develop these places, the more locations, like the Grotto, will be overrun with people, which in turn will end up destroying the few remaining natural places left.
