The Ford government is going too far in allowing development. We are losing too much by developing environmentally sensitive areas such as provincial parks, including Wasaga Beach. The disastrous flattening of West Island at Ontario Place illustrates the government’s indifference toward nature, which was carried out against the wishes of the taxpayers and the interests of the general public. There was a lack of proper consultation and listening to the wishes of the public. The proposed project at Ontario Place will likely be a big, unpopular white elephant that will end up having to close down and be changed again at the taxpayers’ expense. These and other actions will have profound effects on the image of this government for many years to come.
