My family has owned property at Wasaga Beach since 1947. I am against the transfer of the Beach Areas 1 and 2 to the Town of Wasaga Beach. I believe that transferring Nancy Island Historic Site to the Ministry of Tourism would be beneficial to the Town, the Province and the protection and enhancement of this historical site however, the transfer of the beach lands to the Town of Wasaga Beach will not have the intended end. I feel strongly that the beaches should remain under provincial jurisdiction and not fall into the hands of the Town where I believe they will be sold off to developers and the access to the beaches severely restricted to the general public.
Please, do not transfer the lands to the Town, they belong to the people of Ontario and should be owned by the people. The Town benefits from its association with the longest freshwater beach in the world but, the beach should not be owned by the Town.
