Wildfires are showing us what can happen when we ignore the habitat of any of our non-human cohabitants on this planet. The Piping plover may not feature prominently in our consciousness, but to destroy it and its habitat, is clearly to destroy ourselves. We need to pay attention to and support all creatures in order to lead healthy lives ourselves. Environmental considerations are critical to our continuing life on this planet.
