As an avid fisherman I have noticed year over year explosive growth in the cormorant population. They have displaced seagulls nesting in the Hamilton Harbour area. Their acidic droppings are killing trees in several areas including Hamilton Harbour and the Upper Niagara River. It is high time to curb the population growth before it hits a tipping point and irreparably harms the native fish population and smaller bait fish in the natural food chain.
