I support the changes for governance of Nancy Island. I DO NOT in any way support the transfer of Provincial Park land to the town of Wasaga Beach. The once beautiful town of Wasaga Beach has been laid waste by developers at a pace faster than the beach infrastructure can support. The constant change in governance every 4 years is not conducive to protection of what fragile ecosystems that are surviving The consistency, oversight, planning and maintenance of a major part of our beautiful beach would require an additional layer of municipal employees added to our already outsized budget. Out current mayor and council have run up our municipality to huge debt by engaging in the mayor's so called " tourist development strategy" without well thought out plans and back room deals with developers. By concealing much of this under Corporations run by same council- there is no transparency - yet we, the tax payers have been paying the cost with rapidy escalating tax bills. To add the costs of maintaining, policing, adding infrastructures, etc to our already stretched budgets through the taxes needed to do this is not tolerable. Of course developers will be gleeful at the thought of thousands more $ in their pockets. Our infrastructure is stretched to the limit. We have one main road between two bodies of water. We do not need more housing - many builders have stopped their developments as there are no buyers. This offloading smacks of another deal behind closed doors by our mayor and Premiere. Just like the so-called Catholic High School back room deal. Please do not let this or any other mayor and council have control of this precious land and ecosystems.
