I do not think that the control and administration of Nancy Island should be transferred to MTCG from MECP. It is important that Ontario protects its environment and natural habitats, and the MECP is better equipped to sustainably manage Ontario's natural resources, including at Wasaga Beach and Nancy Island. Species that need our help, such as piping plovers, need enough room to flourish. As habitat loss becomes an increasing threat to many species, it is vital that we protect what land we have left and manage it properly through a scientific and environmentally conscious lens. Protecting our beaches and provincial parks does support tourism, as many people leave urban centres to experience nature, so ensuring the MECP retains control will benefit both nature and people. As a proud Ontario citizen who values our rich and beautiful natural habitats, I urge that this proposal be discussed critically and with the environment in mind.
