I support the proposal to add rock climbing as an approved activity in Devils Glen Provincial Park. I believe that rock climbing can be integrated responsibly into the park’s recreational offerings while maintaining its core mandate of environmental conservation.
With appropriate management strategies—such as designated climbing areas, seasonal access restrictions to protect sensitive species, and collaboration with local climbing organizations—rock climbing can coexist with conservation goals. Similar models have proven successful in other protected areas across Canada.
Allowing rock climbing would enhance public engagement with the natural environment, promote physical activity, and help foster a stronger stewardship ethic among climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Thank you for considering a balanced approach that supports both recreation and conservation.
