I have been outdoor rock climbing for 3 years and highly support any changes to park management plans which legitimizes rock climbing in Devil’s Glen. As an avid climber, I often find it difficult to enjoy the sport in Ontario. Due to access issues, there are limited numbers of approved climbing crags in the province. This causes discouraging logistical issues at local crags, ranging from finding parking to not being able to climb due to high climber volume.
These issues are less prevalent in Western Canada, where rock climbing is far more accessible and accepted by provincial parks. Because of this, I often travel to BC just to enjoy a sport that I would love to be able to practice more of at home.
Expanding rock climbing access in Devils Glen would greatly increase climbing accessibility in southern Ontario and encourage safe and manageable practices, strengthening the relationship between climbers and Ontario parks.
Please approve this proposal.
Sincerely,
Alex
