I am very concerned about this proposal which will allow harmful activities to go ahead without public review, scrutiny, or guarantees of real protection. I am VERY concerned that it allows the Minister to create broad exemptions allowing whole industries to bypass species protection altogether.
This legislation represents the dismantling of democratic and scientific safeguards that ensure decisions are made in the public interest.
I urge you to withdraw the Species Conservation Act and restore the Endangered Species Act.
