Subject: Stop Ignoring Indigenous Rights and Protect Our Forests
For nearly 40 years, the Ontario government has ignored Indigenous rights by allowing the aerial spraying of glyphosate across our forests. This practice poisons the land, waters, and traditional food sources that First Nations depend on. It is a blatant violation of Indigenous rights and has continued decade after decade despite repeated objections from affected communities.
Now, with Bill 185 and the proposals under ERO Notice 025-0909, the government is once again trying to bulldoze through environmental protections, making it easier for industry to destroy habitat and threaten species at risk. This is not conservation - it is deregulation for profit at the expense of public and environmental health, and Indigenous rights.
Ontarians see through this. We are angry. We don’t want weaker protections; we want stronger ones. We want an end to chemical spraying in our forests, meaningful respect for Indigenous sovereignty, and real accountability from a government that is supposed to serve the public, not corporations.
Withdraw these changes. Respect the rights you have ignored for decades. Protect our forests, wildlife, and communities - before there is nothing left to protect.
Sincerely, Maureen
