It is incredibly shortsighted to remove so many animals from the endangered list in Ontario. As we witness increasing rates of extinction we should be increasing protections, not decreasing or removing them. When species disappear, there are ripple effects that we cannot predict. The interdependence of our environment does not just include or effect wild animals, it affects all of us. We create the conditions for flooding, erosion, the takeover of invasive species, increased rates of catastrophic forest fires, polluted waterways... the list of consequences is long, but the answer is simple: protect at-risk species, and protect the remaining natural areas in Ontario.
