I use bike lanes in Toronto several times each week. They make a huge difference to my experience of cycling in the city, and especially my confidence about getting around by bike. The expanding network in Toronto is a source of great satisfaction to me.
I am puzzled about why the province would try to prohibit something that enhances my safety (and keeps a car off the roads), but more than that I am upset. Let the province stick to provincial matters, where it has the expertise. Let municipalities look after municipal issues, where they have the expertise. Vehicle trip times are only slightly affected by lane reductions, studies show, if at all. But cyclist safety and the number of cycle trips go up.
Let the province show respect for all citizens and road users, and remove this part of Bill 60.
