I live in Toronto, next to a busy bike lane route. I have been a cyclist for over 30 years in various cities across Canada and the world. I know from experience, and because research proves it, that bike lanes save lives. Theyre also cheaper, healthier, more efficient and faster than driving, in the city. Bicycles have so many advantages for people, for business and neighbourhoods, and should be embraced, designed for, not threatened. There is no sense, and no regard for people, in this proposal. It's backward. It disregards all expert advice. We cannot afford or accomodate more vehicle traffic, and cities need to make their own decisions that protect all road users. To this proposal I say: back off and let the trained municipal transportation planners do their job.
