Bike lanes will save lives in a city like Toronto where the biking population has been steadily increasing since pandemic. It keeps the bikers out of harms way and also lessens liability of vehicular drivers. If bike lanes are removed or new bike lanes are not installed, more bikers will bike in dangerous conditions or bike on sidewalks which the city has been campaigning against. What choice do bikers have? The city belongs to the people and bicycling has made many European cities prosperous.. City planning has to be centered around what makes the city more livable and enjoyable to all those who live in it. Congested traffic and pollution is not what makes cities great. Cycling keeps people healthy and mentally happy and connects communities. The government owes it to it's tax payers to listen to what it wants. Otherwise we live in the tyranny of what it decides for the people.
