I'm writing to register my opposition to the government's plan in Bill 60 to amend the Highway Traffic act with regard to bike lanes.

Doug Ford needs to realize he is not the mayor of Toronto or any other Ontario city. This Bill strips cities of local authority and decision-making, even when projects are supported by evidence and local residents.

Doug Ford must stop lying about bikes causing traffic congestion. Repeating it ad nauseum won't make it true. This Bill will worsen traffic congestion, not reduce it. The government’s own experts have consistently said that bike lanes are not a cause of gridlock.

Doug Ford claims he cares about publuc safety. This Bill will make roads more dangerous. Protected bike lanes prevent serious injuries and deaths for people biking, walking, and driving.

Doug Ford hates bicycles and this blindness will also threaten other uses of road space that communities rely on, including transit priority, safe crossings, patios, curbside access, and school streets.

Doug Ford diesnt care about protecting the climate. This Bill undermines climate goals and public health by locking cities into car-dependent street designs.

I've been a cyclist in Toronto for 30 years. Protected bike lanes keep me safe. All cyclists deserve to be safe.

Stop this asinine Bill now.
