As a resident of Ontario, I’m deeply concerned about the decline of bird species across our province. Birds are such an important part of our natural heritage and ecosystems — their songs, migrations, and presence remind us that healthy environments still exist here. Seeing fewer of them each year is heartbreaking and a clear sign that our ecosystems are under strain.
I’m asking the Ontario government to step up its efforts to protect and recover at-risk bird species. This means making real investments in habitat protection, restoration, and monitoring programs — not just relying on voluntary or short-term measures. Many of these species don’t have time to wait.
Protecting birds also protects wetlands, forests, and grasslands that benefit people and communities. I hope the province will take stronger, science-based action and show leadership in ensuring that Ontario’s birds — and the places they depend on — have a future.
