I like biking around my city, and I find that too much space is allocated for cars in city centres and downtowns as it is. I think cities should have the right to decide how their space is arranged.
Much of the bike infrastructure in my city only needs small additional connections to become more practical, but if we aren't allowed to modify our roads, it will be impossible to make a viable bike network, which will mean people like me who prefer to cycle throughout the year will be forced to drive as well, increasing congestion.
This feels like provincial overreach to me.
