I am a masters student studying environmental science at the University of Guelph, ON and am appalled at the proposed amendments to the species at risk ask. The provincial and federal governments continue to disregard the utmost importance of protecting Ontario’s ecological systems. I understand the importance of development, but not when it comes with so much sacrifice. It is clear to me that policy makers do not understand the direct connection between what we do to the environment and human health. For example, everyday, more foods are recalled due to contamination with heavy metals, toxins, etc. This is a clear consequence of lack of environmental remediation surround building and the lack of policy limiting industry from dumping hazardous waste.

The loss of the species that are proposed to be removed from the endangered species list would be detrimental and result in serious ecosystem instability, which would be felt by humans in the coming years.

You need to screw your heads on right and think beyond the short term of pushing development and think of what this would do for the species themselves and future generations.

Sincerely,
Someone who is beyond tired of people who don’t understand the important of protecting my the environment making the rules.
