Hello,
I wish to register my concerns about this new legislation changes.
While the description of what was happening within each part of legislation is vague , I would like to comment in general about the concerns I have.
As one of the only wildlife veterinarians in Canada, I see so many injured and orphaned wildlife.
Ontario needs stricter laws- not more lenient ones - in terms of protecting our Wildlife. We also need to hold people accountable. Please don’t issue permits for easy reporting . The legislation is broad. How are we protecting Wildlife? Do not make it easy for people to harm wildlife. Please make sure that due diligence is done to make sure that permits are issued to vetted people and animals get the care they need to minimize suffering.
Please don’t allow any major changes to the process - it’s easy to click the box for administrative ease, and therefore we have more animals that will suffer from non vetted applications. Each application should be scrutinized to make sure animals don’t suffer or be easily targeted for harm. It’s our job as stewards of the environment to make sure that doesn’t happen.
