1. Proposed Protected Species in Ontario List regulation
From what I understand, the government is weakening protections so that animal and their habitats can be destroyed easily to protect the developers and logging, oil, and mining companies. Please do not erode protections for at risks species.
2. Proposed Registration Regulation
Additionally, specific requirements may apply for certain activities depending on the impacted species and/or habitat, or the severity of the impacts, such as:
activities impacting Boreal Caribou
So boreal caribou can have their habitat destroyed by loggers?
activities involving impacts to unhealthy Butternut or Black Ash trees
The trees should be treated not destroyed.
the operation of infrastructure that may pose a considerable risk of impact to species or species habitat
Well if they go extinct you are not getting them back. Please don’t destroy animals or their habitat.
the possession of a species at risk for longer than seven days
There are enough roadside zoos in Ontario. The Marineland mess is a perfect example.
projects funded through the Species Conservation Program
Only if those projects don’t hurt animals.
activities undertaken in response to a non-imminent threat to human health or safety
Please don’t kill animals who have had human encounters. Educate people instead and remove attractants.
3. Proposed Permit Regulation
killing a protected animal species (e.g., mammal, fish, reptile) if the activity is not already subject to an exception (e.g. threats to human health and safety) or eligible for registration (e.g.euthanasia for rabies testing)
That is actually not necessary. There are live tests for rabies that work in humans. India uses live tests for humans and animals. The vaccines also work without having to test animals. https://rapidliverabiestest.wordpress.com
4. Proposed Exception Regulation
Please do not make it easier to exploit animals.
5. Proposed Transition Regulation
Please do not transition into weaker environment protection.
6. Proposed Regulatory Amendments under the Environmental Bill of Rights
The environment needs to be protected as persons, not property .
