This bill is incredibly detrimental and disregards the health, well-being, and safety of cyclists in Ontario. The government has a duty to protect the physical safety of its people, and the Government of Ontario, under the direction of Doug Ford, is neglecting its lawful duty. I have not owned a car in over ten years. For a variety of reasons (including financial and health) I cycle, take public transit, and pay for car share (i.e. Uber) and taxis. My physical safety is always on the line as a cyclist. I have previously been injured by misplaced construction materials IN a big lane - suffering a concussion (despite wearing a helmet) and broken bones as a result. This concussion has resulted in multiple leaves from work and absences from enjoyment in sports and entertainment (such as concerts). The safety of ALL PEOPLE who exist on the roads of ANY city in Ontario should be the number one priority. NOT the speed of building infrastructure on any other excuse Ford has come up with to put this bill forward. This bill puts my physical body at risk along with the hundreds of thousands (yes there are indeed hundreds of thousands) of other Ontarians who choose to cycle. Shame on Doug Ford. Shame on every MPP who supports this. Your duty is to protect the people of Ontario, NOT the profit of builders.
