Asbestos processigg by had major health implications for the residents of ward 3.
There is no safe amount of asbestos entering our air. We cannot allow this in our ward. We can’t rely on a company to tell us this will be dealt with safely. If something slips we’re adding major risk.
We’re putting in a brand new park on gage north as well as affordable housing. Both will expose residents.
Not to mention the housing near by.
This is putting the residents of ward 3 at risk of the below;
Mesothelioma: A rare but aggressive and malignant cancer of the lining of the lungs, abdomen, or heart. This cancer is strongly linked to asbestos exposure, and the effect does not appear to be increased by smoking.
Lung Cancer: Asbestos exposure significantly increases the risk of lung cancer. The risk is particularly high for individuals who both inhale asbestos fibers and smoke tobacco.
Asbestosis: A chronic lung disease characterized by scarring (fibrosis) of lung tissue, which makes breathing difficult and can lead to heart failure in severe cases. This typically results from prolonged, high-level exposure.
Pleural Thickening and Plaques: Non-cancerous changes in the lining of the chest cavity that can cause shortness of breath and chest discomfort.
