I strongly condemn this proposal. As a cyclist in the city of Toronto cycling is already unsafe enough. This bill if passed would allow the government to have sweeping authority over municipalities, and how they manage cycling lanes. Cycling, walking and transit needs to be prioritized in order to be responsible caretakers of our environment and reduce vehicle emissions. On the contrary to this proposal, bike lanes need to be further implemented in this province in order to safeguard the lives of cyclists. As a cyclist, I know firsthand what safe bike lane looks and feels like. Removing bike lanes Forces cyclist to occupy a small section of the road on the shoulder or worse, ride in between impatient motorists. Car drivers becoming patient and often make irrational dangerous stunts in order to pass cyclists. Cycling infrastructure, especially in small towns is poor enough. I want to reiterate that I strongly disagree with this bill, it is a shameful proposal.
