I am wholeheartedly in opposition to the passage of Schedule 5 in Bill 66.
There were good reasons for the creation and passage of the Toxic Reduction Act. This Act, and its implementing regulations, which presently require large industries to develop plans to reduce the use
or generation of toxic substances within their production processes is of great benefit to the citizens of Ontario, both present and future. To no longer require facilities with existing toxics reduction plans to review those plans, and exempt certain facilities from all future planning and reporting obligations. the act gives industry the green light to continue to pollute our air, water and land, all in the name of profit for those same industries, and also for the government of Ontario.
It is not only short-sighted and bad policy, it is morally wrong.
