It is absolutely essential that Ontario reduce its toxins levels if it is truly going to be "open for business" and competitive globally. That is the future of business and healthy economies. To not be required to review or report on toxin reduction plans is to give businesses free reign. We have not yet recovered from the damage done in the latter half of the last century when toxins were less regulated. Finally we are beginning to see some areas that had become near wastelands return to a level of vibrancy — the west harbour in Hamilton is one example. Along with the "detoxification" comes a whole new surge in economic activity, such as improved housing, entertainment venues, sports, technology, and retail. We cannot allow that momentum to be undermined by allowing pollution to go unregulated once again.
