I do not support the use of this planning tool. It is undemocratic, the removal of public consultation offensive and as a government planning/tool idea regressive. It is extremely concerning that the provincial government would enable a planning tool to be used that would permit municipalities the ability to change official plans (documents that were developed with public consultation) and zoning without public consultation and ensure that decisions cannot be appealed to the LPAT. Further that additional major pieces of provincial planning legislation could be bypassed such as the Clean Water Act, the Planning Act, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act is alarming. The planning process is not red-tape, it is necessary to ensure we build our communities smartly and in a democratic manner. This legislation has the potential to have far too many unintended outcomes in its current form. I am pleased to be living in Vaughan whose politicians took the time to conduct public consultation and have quite clearly stated that the proposed Bill 66 Planning tool is unacceptable in it's current form.
Please repeal the Bill 66 Planning Tool.
