Once again, I am disappointed in this government's failure to protect the Greenbelt, agricultural lands, wetlands and natural areas by the amendments to the Places to Grow Act. With threats to our natural environment increasing, all policy decisions around economic and infrastructure growth, MUST keep environmental integrity as the primary goal behind all decisions. I understand the need for new houses, infrastructure, transit, but this must be done now in a model of intensification and NOT urban sprawl. Strong economic development is possible with strong environmental protections, and even creates new business opportunities as development becomes more attuned to the need and desire for green, energy efficient buildings and transit.
