For many years I have been concerned about the lack of public safety in the nuclear energy industry in Ontario. In my opinion the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission places a higher priority in promoting nuclear energy than in attending to public safety. It is clear that we need adequate protection and preparedness to deal with a Fukushima-like disaster however unlikely; but it looks like we will not get it.
Let's get the facts on the table and let's adopt world class standards to adequately protect the public. To proceed on the basis that a serious nuclear event cannot happen here is inexcusable.
