The allowing of proponents to pay fees rather than perform actual measures to ensure there are no impacts on species at risk is entirely contrary to the purpose of this legislation and the needs of Ontarians.
To allow the Minister to require the committee to change the status of a species is a horrific overriding of the scientific expertise by a purely political body.
To delay the implementation of a listing of a species is an entirely unnecessary choice that puts species in a vulnerable position without providing significant benefits to private proponents.
