I strongly disagree with proposed changes in Bill 108 that impact the environment, wildlife habitat and especially endangered species. The proposal is well-described as a "pay to slay" policy.
There is so much potential to increase housing by densifying and rezoning brownfield and under-utilized land such as shopping centre parking lots and single family areas that there should be no need to build housing in environmentally sensitive areas.
The bill should omit all changes that are part of the Ministry of the Environment's area of jurisdiction.
