It is unacceptable to exempt the logging industry from rules that protect the caribou and the boreal forest. As Canadians we have the right to a healthy living environment. Trees clean the air of toxins for humans, absorb and treat stormwater to mitigate flooding potential and remove pollutants from runoff into our water resources, provide habitat for numerous organisms and provide earth stability to reduce erosion. The health and ecological benefits of forests save the government millions of dollars every year. It is imperative that Canada makes an example of protecting, preserving and respecting our precious forests, as this will provide the most benefits to all Canadians, not only immediately, but also for future generations.
