This looks like a blatant attempt to make species destruction by profit driven developers a political decision rather than a science and principal based decision. No doubt the developers will spend heavily to get the minister's attention and then to persuade him to allow the habitat destruction and this will open the door to corruption and disgrace, not to mention harmful to the prospects for species in Ontario.
This is a retrograde proposal that will reduce our natural heritage as well as the reputation of the Conservative Government. Good developers will be disadvantaged and bad/destructive developers will be enabled and encouraged. Surely this is not what we want for Ontario.
This should be sent back for major revision.
