Ontario's model that uses Conservation Authorities as watershed managers is the best in Canada.
This is a model that has been successfully used for over 70 years with great success.
If Conservation Authorities did not exist, we would see much greater damages to property and people than we have seen in recent flood events.
In addition to the proposed core mandate tasks, the public benefits greatly from the stewardship, restoration, and local projects that Conservation Authorities undertake.
I am supportive of Conservation Authorities. In my view, Conservation Authorities should be established in the Muskoka area and areas along the Ottawa River (where there is currently only partial coverage).
