Bill 108 - (Schedule 12) – the proposed More Homes, More Choice Act: Amendments to the Planning Act
I disagree with this bill on many levels.
1. Parkland by-laws under section 42: I disagree with changing the formula to determine the parkland area based on density. It will result in everyone getting a smaller piece of the park pie.
2. Third party appeals of plans of subdivision: Going back to an appointed OMB tribunal, funded by developers and by Ford's conservative government will override neighbourhood objections.
3. Reduction of decision timelines: Changing the timeline to 90 days is not enough time for objections from people to mount their complaints.
This is a backward step in planning. This is a government which is not "for the people" but is for developers and old conservative cronies. This bill speaks only to the city of Toronto. If Ford wanted to be mayor he should have run for the mayorality.
