I strongly disagree with the undemocratic proposal to limit Development Charges for the City of Toronto. As our city is experiencing incredible growth over the next few decades, and intensification on a scale we've never experienced, this is the time to be doubling down on DCs to ensure our wonderful neighbourhoods continue to be wonderful. This includes green space, parkland, funding for libraries, community centres, affordable housing and other community resources that make this city a great place to live. Planning for the growth of our city should be driven by the people who live here, and our elected politicians, not by developers and the OMB. Green space is essential to the enjoyment of our neighbourhoods and is also an essential strategy against flooding. 5% parkland dedication per development, regardless of density, is nothing short of disastrous for our city.
