Please consider the effect this amendment will have on the economies of northern communities.
Amending the regulation to allow for two years of careful consideration of the impact on the workers in resource dependant communities can only be considered as the prudent approach.
If already well managed forests are forced to limit allowable cuts under the guise of protecting the caribou the economic impacts will be severe. Good paying woodland and mill jobs will be eliminated. Please consider the socio -economic effect this decision will have on the people reliant on the forest industry.
Please follow through on the amendment before July 1 2018.
We employ 35 drivers and mechanics delivering to mills in northwestern Ontario. Our jobs are in the hands of decision makers. Please take the time to protect the workers as well as the caribou.
