Ontario’s bottled water sector sustainably and responsibly manages water resources both from municipal systems and groundwater sources.
The bottled water sector only represents 0.01% of permitted water-takings in the province. To put that number into perspective, 95 times more water is permitted to be taken for washing gravel than for the entire bottled water sector in Ontario.
In reviewing the province’s water-taking policies, it will be essential to consider the other 99.99% of permitted water takings in the province.
We would welcome the opportunity to work with the Government of Ontario on developing a comprehensive water-quantity management strategy that takes into account the water usage of all sectors.
