Thank you for providing Public Health Sudbury & Districts with an opportunity to provide input and comments on the proposed amendments to Regulation 903 (Wells) under the Ontario Water Resources Act. Overall, the proposed amendments do not appear to adversely impact the health of the public. However, wells that are installed incorrectly can contaminate and/or harm the underlying aquifer. Public Health Sudbury & Districts recommends that licensed well contractors have sufficient insurance coverage to bear the financial impact of an adverse event resulting from improper well construction and/or installation.
If you have any questions please contact Burgess Hawkins, Manager, Environmental Health at 705-522-9200 ext. 218.
