The bike paths/bike lanes need to be continuous. I travel from the East End to a downtown hospital on University Ave. everyday. There is NO continuous bike route. I white knuckle it on my ride when after I leave sherbourne or dundas or gerrard or adelaide when riding. The stretches to get to my hospital from any of these bike lanes are only 1km or so long so i try to ride very carefully to get to and from work. On Dec 6th 2017 i was hit on that small stretch of 1 km where there is no suggested bike route after leaving the Gerrard Bike lane trying to get to work. The car made an illegal turn and hit me. How can you promote riding to work if i can only get 90% of my ride completed? Many who work in downtown hospitals on University Ave (Sinai, PMH, TGH, SickKids, Michener) ride to work to leave coveted parking spots for their patients. I suggest you look at the Bike Toronto interactive map and see that all bike lanes, bike routes cease to exist to access any of these healthcare institutions. I am happy to take a different route to arrive alive, but no route exists.
