I support the three-year lease extension as described in ERO Policy Proposal 019-0907. This new lease extension should be granted automatically to all leaseholders. This time should be used to reach a permanent solution that will ensure the cottage community remains forever. If a permanent solution is reached prior to the three-year deadline, I support it being implemented as soon as possible.
The reasons to extend the leases to the cottagers are plenty but from my personal experience at Rondeau, I can say that it is access to the park through the cottages is what instilled my love and passion for Ontario parks. The cottagers are very aware of their role in maintaining the natural state of the park and are very engaged its preservation. Rondeau is a great park for many reason but one of the greatest is the relationship between the park and its cottagers. This relationship must endure.
