It is harmful to the province, deadly to natural systems and a horrible example to provide to the public to double the amount of logging allowed - further more to allow the forestry industry to be exempt from the ESA is terrible. The Crown Forestry Sustainability Act does not require companies to protect more habitat for habitat they have destroyed or removed or to protect more habitat for species especially those at risk which they have killed or harmed. The proposed Act is immoral and completely irresponsible. Especially in an age with massive species declines and catastrophic climate change. Shame on you for setting an incredibly bad example and for not acting responsibly and protecting the province from environmental demise and catastrophe. Current and future generations will hate you for this if you let these changes take place.
"Since the government has gutted the ESA recovery requirements, [industry] lobbyists may finally be right – neither law compels the industry to ensure that species are better off in the end. But this won’t matter anyway if the industry is exempt.
One cannot simply abdicate responsibility to recover species."
