The proposal to increase the logging in Ontario is a wrong move!
It should be replaced by a proposal to use the $60 million now used for logging roads to repair the damage caused to habitat that puts the endangered species such as the woodland caribou at increasing risk. Protecting the land for woodland caribou, an umbrella species, means protecting the many other plants and animals in the same habitat.
Scientists have stated that the reduction in the number of this species is due to human disturbance including the disruption of their habitat by logging roads.
At a time when the world is responding to the results of climate change and science is asking for reduced damage to ecosystems, Ontario should take a positive position and not adopt this proposal!
