This legislative proposal is regressive and cruel. If the mother is killed, the orphaned cubs are in effect sentenced to death. Bear hunts are not for meat but simply for trophy hunting, which caters to the vanities of a very small proportion of the population who also happen to have the money to spend on such hunts. In an era when animal protection rights are gaining ground, not to mention the increasing threats to all species in our climate emergency, this proposal is immoral and unacceptable.
