I was shocked and dismayed to hear about the proposed processing plant at 633 Coronation Drive. I live in the area and am irritated that I have only heard about this now through a member of the community - tomorrow is the cutoff for comments.
My primary concern is the emission of: sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, methane and particulate matter (this could be anything - from harmless to severely harmful, but I have seen no specifics as to the nature of the particulate matter). My family and I live close by and we frequently walk, bike and the kids play in the area. Prolonged exposure to these chemicals has been shown to be harmful. Additionally the increased traffic of large trucks in the area poses a risk and nuisance to those in the larger area.
I would urge those responsible for the decision-making process to question the wisdom of putting such a facility in a neighborhood where children and families live and spend time. The chemicals, with long term exposure, are not benign.
I am attaching some resources that highlight health concerns with the chemicals mentioned. For what it's worth these are from respected groups such as the EPA.
