The simplest and cheapest way to prevent and/or contain CWD is to ban deer farms in Ontario. The risk to Ontario’s deer population and associated cultural and economic benefits is so large than decisive steps have to be taken .

Simply buy out existing deer farms. There are not that many and the cost will be small relative to the ongoing costs associated with monitoring and trying to control the spread of CWD. Work out the risk, communications, response teams ...and the enormous risks ( get costs from surrounding jurisdictions) and a simple one time buy out is a cheap investment for long term security.
Make a decision that has long term protection for this critically important resource.
