I completely support the proposal to increase the number of wild raptors that can be captured by Ontario falconers.
Countless studies have been conducted worldwide for over 50 years, that consistently show falconers and falconry have no significant impact on wild populations. From a biological perspective an increase in wild take by falconers will have no impact in Ontario or any other province.
Falconers are only allowed to take juvenile birds from the wild and thereby do not impact breeding populations. In fact most wild caught raptors, after a few years, will be returned to the wild by falconers.
Kindest regards and thank you for the opportunity to comment.
