The proposal will add significant dangerous emissions to a part of Scarborough that is already one of the most heavily toxic parts of Toronto (according to City of Toronto report in 2017). This plant would process up to six times more tonnes of waste a year than the ENTIRE City of Toronto. Usually, processing facilities like these are located near less populated, highway exits. There is no reason this plant could not be placed closer to the outskirts of Toronto, in a more industrial area.
