I am voicing my opposition to these proposed changes to the Endagered Species Act. It is well documented that pay to slay does not work to protect at risk and endangered species and that allowing developed to pay into a fund in order to develop on land that is inhabited by these species only serves to allow more development on areas where it would otherwise not be allowed. There is no accountability of where the money goes and the projects would no where near provide benefits to outweigh the destruction of important habitat for Ontario's variety of species. Ontario should not be for sale, but these proposed changes signal that to developers. I am completely opposed to any changes to this act.
