As a resident of Stratford, ON, I wish to register my objection to MZOs generally and the MZO recently used in Stratford. Simply put, it is an undemocratic tool. I can understand it’s use in extreme circumstances when the common good is at stake but that would be rarely and in the extreme. That is certainly not the case with the Xinyi plant. No common good is served. We are fine without the plant and, in fact, many people in Stratford have used their democratic right to voice their opposition. Democracy demands that this MZO be rescinded so that the normal process of planning be conducted according to the will of the people.
